Community Money Advice Awarded Community Chest Funding from Local Councillors.
Community Money Advice Launceston are now able to offer three consecutive, private consultations at one at their offices, thanks to funding awarded to them by Cllr Adam Paynter and Cllr Adrian Parsons. CMA applied for the funding back in April and have been awarded the funds to purchase a new laptop for their office. This additional laptop will allow for the charity to work with even more residents in need.
Centre Manager Sarah Vinson has said “We are incredibly grateful that two of our local councillors are able to support our work this year. These funds will allow us to purchase an additional laptop, allowing volunteers to work simultaneously, maximizing our private office spaces to help more residents. This really will be a great benefit to us as a charity.”
Community Money advice offers support with budgeting, debt advice and support and benefit claiming, of which many of the processes are now all online. At present contact with all forms of bureaucracy is becoming increasingly complicated, but it is also invariably necessary to be undertaken using the internet. As we know that 1 in 7 people do not have ‘internet access’ or are not ‘computer literate, it is even more important to be able to provide these support services to residents in need.
Chair of CMA Trustees Nigel Parker expressed “We are so fortunate to have such support from our local councillor’s that is allowing both us and our clients to have access to the latest and most modern technology. No longer do we feel that we are disadvantaged by having outdated equipment. Expressing our “Thanks” through this medium may appear inadequate but I can assure you that all our clients, and the team, are extremely grateful.”
